You don’t need a factory. You don’t need a saw mill. You don’t need anything, You don’t need a high tech campus, any of that stuff in your town. The town just needs to provide a remote workspace with high-speed internet.

What if you could work from your favorite vacation spot? Working remotely has been a part of life for far more employees than ever before.   • Tulsa Remote, a recruitment campaign for Oklahoma’s biggest cities, has offered workers $10,000 in relocation assistance.(2)
  • The Choose Topeka program offers new homebuyers $10,000 and renters can receive up to $5,000. (3)
  • Vermont offers $10,000 toward relocation expenses. (4)
  • Newton, IA, is not only offering $10,000 towards a new home, but a $3,000 cash welcome bonus. (4)
  • Lincoln, KS, is offering free land for new homebuilders. (4)
  • West Virginia is offering $12,000 in cash, along with a year’s worth of free outdoor recreation and two years of free outdoor gear rentals.(5)

A number of foreign countries have also joined in the hunt for remote workers, in some cases even offering citizenship. Mainly they tout their lower costs of living and their natural beauty. These include Barbados, Bermuda, Mexico, Jamaica, Estonia, Georgia, and Albania.(6)
